Review Published: July 6, 2018

I remembered before adding this to my to-read list that it's not part of any series, rather just a standalone book. After getting to know Garrett Daniels' hot brothers and his best friend in this book, I couldn't help wonder if Emma Chase would possibly entertain the possibility of turning this into a series since I'm crazy about them- especially the calm and collected, Dr. Connor Daniels... *winks*

And will you look at that, it's now definitely part of the GETTING SOME SERIES! (Emma Chase, you're an angel... thank you!)

Alright, I'm most of the time DETAILED with my reviews so if you haven't read this good piece of art, please skip first and save yourself some spoilers. Unless you really want to- by all means.

But hey, don't say I DIDN'T WARN YOU.

Now we've somehow settled that, can I now list down why I can't help loving Getting Schooled?

One, Ron Burgundy from Anchorman's line was used in the beginning. (I love you, Ron Burgundy!)

Two, one of my favorite singers from the 70's era is Callaway's last name. (Carpenter!)

Three, one of Derek and Meredith's famous spats in the series, Grey's Anatomy was used too! (McDreamy, why you dead now? Oops. Another topic for another time!)

Four, I just love dogs! (I've got so much love for these creatures- such tender gigantic beasts!)

Five, the famous Oliver "Ollie" Munson! (Read the book and you'll find out. He's pretty vital in the story, you'll see!)

And finally, if I've not made it so damn clear- I'm a sucker for SECOND CHANCE ROMANCES!

Garrett Daniels has a magnificent piece of ass- OOPS. I really said that, didn't I? He's a cocky bastard that excels as a football coach on the field and a hot "Big D" history teacher who enjoys jogging for five miles everyday in little Lakeside (New Jersey), stopping at his favorite Bagel shop, cuddles his best pal- the adorable aging beast that needs insulin shots every day and being a cool uncle to his nephews and nieces. With someone as ripped and toned as Garrett Daniels you'd think he'd enjoy casual fling and no-string attached arrangements... you couldn't be more precise! Bingo, our leading male protagonist likes it easy, uncomplicated and fast- that's just how he is, and we'll find out why.

Callaway "Callie" Carpenter is beautiful and independent rising creative director in the world of theater arts along with her two awesome buddies- Bruce and Cheryl in San Diego. She's ready for new things and the spring of promotion until she gets hauled back home after a call from her sister regarding her parents suffering from a "terrible" accident. And with terrible, you'll know why if you've read the book!

"The night I got the call from Colleen, when she told me about the accident, I looked at Bruce and Cheryl and do you know what I said?"

"What?"

"I said, I have to go HOME. This is home, Garrett. It's always been home to me; I just forgot. But I know now. I could live anywhere with you and be happy- but if I can choose where that is, I want it to be here. I want our life to be here- you and me- together, in our home."

Can I just say that I love that despite this bastard can be so arrogant on and off the field, but he has the decency to NOT demand from his woman to stay in Lakeside just because he was working and had his life settled there? Man, I'm used to reading how the woman will just throw away her dreams just to be with the guy but we do know for a fact that she'll choose to stick with him in the end but I just like how this man DID NOT IMPOSE purely for his own convenience; he felt like he already has done what he's supposed to do in his life and he realizes that Callie is only about to start hers and wants her to pursue her dreams, with him by her side. Also, he behaved like a grown up- WHAT A GROWN UP SHOULD HAVE when he saw her across the parking lot. He came up to her, greeted her and tried to catch up with Callie even when so much questions were whirling inside his head. Yes, he missed her. Yes, he still thinks about her. Yes, he's wondering what the hell she was doing in Lakeside when she was supposed to be at San Diego. And you know what? He asked her if they could maybe hangout sometime which was so MATURE. I'm usually used to these heroes going like ALPHA-POSSESSIVE-CRAZY-RIDICULOUS (It's hot tho and I'm not really complaining) but I was expecting Garrett to be actually childish and a prick, should they be reunited and reacquainted again after several years. Boy, was I mistaken. What can I say? Garrett Daniels is a man. A real man. *SWOONS*

CAN I OFFER A CLAP TO THIS BEAUTIFUL MAN?! SERIOUSLY. You deserve it, Garrett. Yes, yes... you may fuck up sometimes but I cannot deny that you're a good man, Garrett. My sweet, sweet Garrett.

I really enjoyed this book and the plot twist pulled slowly after the end of the book and I can't explain how glad I was that there was actually three set of EPILOGUES! Yes, HEA for the win! I can't count on my fingers how many times I've cracked up over their silly and hilarious exchange of dialogues. You'll never be bored with Emma Chase's books!

Emma Chase, you bet that I'll be WAITING for your next and future releases. I CAN'T WAIT!
